The team spirit, individual and collective experience are the backbone of our organization, in which a multidisciplinary team made up of engineers, biologists, chemists, pharmacists and food technologists stands out. To all this, we must add a talent map made up of people highly trained to comply with standards/rules and processes. Yield yeast
In the technical field of alcoholic fermentations, Tomsa Destil has developed a new yeast strain of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae species, with a high osmotolerant capacity.
This H8 strain can ferment different substrates, being especially suitable to produce bioethanol for industrial uses, with high grade, as well as in the food and energy sector.
- H8 is not a genetically modified organism.
- It exhibits rapid growth and high fermentation rate.
H8 is a hybrid strain with access number: CECT 13152.

At Tomsa Destil we know that change is now. Over the years, we have been developing different research focuses focused on improving the processes of the sector through efficiency, but above all their sustainability.
Ethanol 2G
Tomsa Destil is committed to the decarbonization of the environment through its research, contributions, and findings in the biofuels industry, with Ethanol 2G being one of the most innovative alternatives in the sector. This second-generation ethanol is obtained from lignocellulosic biomass from non-food waste materials from agricultural, forestry and industrial activities. We are currently focusing our research on the development of a clean and renewable technique capable of depolymerizing lignocellulose to make it fermentable, obtaining some advantages such as obtaining 2G Ethanol, in addition to the optimization of the production process.
Renewable hydrogen
Renewable hydrogen is one of Tomsa Destil's research focuses, being of special interest as H2 production from ethanol is highly feasible, because this alcohol can be produced from biomass and/or forest residues. Some of the relevant advantages of reformed ethanol are its base, being a renewable alcohol and easy to store, in addition to favoring the transport of H2 through chemical storage in liquids, which means that H2 could be produced in the vehicle that consumes it, from ethanol, avoiding the cost of storing H2.
